TRAINS PLANES AND AUTOMOBILES…. But no boats….

Juneau:  April 26, 2019.  12:54pm  Today is DAY ONE of our fantastic Glacier Bay Adventure, and already we have had some DRAMA!
Jim and I got up at 4:45am to leave the house by 5:30am for our 7am Island Air flight from Klawock to Ketchikan.  No drama there, and our Alaska Air flight from Ketchikan was okay too – albeit lots of take offs and landings.  The DRAMA comes from mom and dad – in the Seattle Airport.  Turns out the plane they were SUPPOSED to fly to Alaska had hit a bird on landing in Seattle.  After everyone was seated and ready to go they decided to send a different plane.  Now – mom and dad were out in the N-Gates and they had to get off the plane and rush to the D-gates for their new plane (well – so did everyone else on the plane, and I feel sorry for the baggage people who had to transfer luggage…)
Mom called while Jim and I were on the ground in Petersburg to let me know.  Needless to say – they are an hour behind now.
Sooooo… what do Karen and Jim do while we wait?  We go to DMV!  Everyone in Alaska needs to get new Driver’s Licenses that comply with TSA security whatever….  I have gotten mine, but every time Jim goes to DMV in Craig they are closed.  Considering they are only open on Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 2pm – it is already difficult to get anything done.
Stay tuned for more excitement this evening!
