SAFE AND SOUND IN JUNEAU!
Okay – All’s well that ends well – or so they say. After 2 hours at DMV Jim finally got a new
driver’s license! Mom and dad arrived
successfully in Juneau. And we had a LOVELY drive around town. We have a rental car, and went to the far
south (or is it east?) end of the road – to the small community of Thane. We went past Sheep Creek where Joe Juneau found
GOLD – or so they say. We also went to
the new sculpture installation – a humpback whale. This is a bit hard to find – near the Juneau-Douglas
bridge. Here is a website that talks
about the sculpture: http://www.alaskawhalesculpture.com/
And here is a photo – if you look closely under the flipper –
you will see mom and dad!
After touring around Juneau = we went out to dinner at Salt
which is considered Juneau’s finest restaurant and had a LOVELY meal – sorry Birgit
– all I managed to photograph was the appetizer which was a very nice cold pea-mint
soup topped with shaved radish and crème` fraisch ( or however you spell
that).
SO – I will attach a few more photos – and then it is BED
TIME for Karen. More tomorrow!
